Talent Needed
5 reasons you’re losing your top talent
As businesses compete to attract top-notch talent, the need to retain and engage existing employees has become increasingly important. When top employees leave, it is not only disruptive, but very costly.

1. Personalized professional development
Investing in your employees’ professional development is vital and has become a key requirement for many of today’s millennial and Gen Z candidates. According to LinkedIn’s 2018 Workforce Learning Report, 93% of employees would stay at a company longer if it invested in their careers.  However, employers need to avoid adopting a cookie-cutter approach, and rather implement a flexible strategy where candidates are able to grow and develop according their strengths and interests.

2. Poor leadership
Leaders need to take a holistic, and sometimes difficult look at their own actions, as well as the actions of their managers. A lack of strong, consistent management can significantly hamper productivity and is a major reason why employees seek greener pastures.

3. Work-life balance
As we grow increasingly connected through technology and social media, it is becoming more and more difficult to separate work from our personal lives. Maintaining a healthy work-life balance is not only important for health and relationships, but it can also improve your employees’ productivity and overall performance.

4. Lack of autonomy

If an organisation fails to provide an opportunity for challenging and engaging work, they risk losing their high performing employees who thrive in environments where there is a level of trust, autonomy and opportunity for innovation.

5. Red tape

Red tape within larger organisations is a common reason why employees leave. If employees are met with bureaucratic red tape when attempting to share ideas, engagement plummets and productivity decreases. Leaders need to focus on empowering employees to innovate and share ideas that will affect real change.

Homecoming Revolution specialises in headhunting and placing scarce skill talent in a host of industries including Fintech, Retail, FMCG and Financial Services. Get in touch to speak to one of our headhunters.
